If you want to know what you believe, look at your life—It is a perfect reflection of what you believe. --Jonathan
the actor and comedian Jim Carrey was on Larry King Live recently and he said some things that were quite profound. Jim is quite a spiritual person who has a meditation practice and this has given him important insights we can all benefit from. Here is what he said word for word.
"I believe that everything that happens to you is the greatest thing that could ever happen to you. Everything. Being mugged in an alley. Hit with a brick in the face. Because that is exactly how the universe works. It gives you whatever you are in alignment with and its all designed to work on the weakest link you have. I believe I am being talked to by everything."
This may seem to be obvious or it may seem to be a mythology to you. It depends on your point of view and the insights you have about how life works, but this view is found in all religions. The saying, “Those who live by the sword, die by the sword,” is an acknowledgment of this process. “You reap what you sow,” is another proverb reflecting this important underlying truth of the way the universe works. The very nature of the universe is that it has to give you what you hold in your conscious and subconscious mind. This is the way everything has been set up. It is the perfect system of justice. When we make a willful choice we set in motion the forces for the universe to reflect back to us precisely what we have believed, willed and projected.
This is perhaps the most important and profound understanding you can have about life, because it affects literally every experience you have. It takes everything you try to externalize and says there is nothing external. This is actually very, very good news because it means that you can change your life. Rather than blaming yourself or anyone else, you use the many tools for transformation that are available and you go in there and shift or release the energy. This reduces everything down to a very basic process that is phenomenal. When you finally realize that the universe is a perfect mirror, reflecting back to you precisely and exactly what you have been holding at the deepest levels of your consciousness, you will become more mindful through the day.

Golly, this is a pretty "simple" way to live... AWARENESS. Perfect. I wish it was "easier" at times. Thanks for the reminder.
